So there was this time when it was my daughter's birthday party. We are talking of March this year!
In the midst of this pandemic, I was anally insistent that I would do a physical party. I felt (and so do feel even now), that the biggest casaulties of this lockdown/panademic have been children. At the time, the cases were low and steadily, cautiously, people were stepping out.
So with a lot of persuasion and safety protocols in place, we planned a party with 6 of her core friends, that are family.
On the way to the party (it was an outdoor event, with lake rides, and safaris), we started explaining to Aryahi how she is the host so she had to take care of her guests, make sure they are enjoying themselves and have eaten well.
She nodded sagely (even for her age!) and we were happy that she had understood everything. There was chill silence in the car and then she asked an innocent question. One that had me stumped for quite a while. Like, till today. Her question was
"If I am the host, can I mute everyone?"
