They always said status showed.
In what you use and what you show.
The majority bought that thought and went by it..
Money was spent where it showed.
Those who got left behind, did.
Simple.
Life moved on.
Success become a showoff.
Comfort took a back seat.
Flashy cars. Flashy clothes.
The Best brands ruled the roost.
Coffee Shops saw Macs and the watches and shoes.
The cars dropped off and drivers picked them up.
Logos and Brands ran the works.
The conformers were seen as "happy"
Non conformers did their own jig.
They were looked down upon, but did they care?
No one asked them. Or Bothered to.
More time passed and lockdown came.
Everything shut and all were home.
All you saw were bits of people, in Zoom calls and that too closeup.
Branded clothes replaced by house tshirts, watches and rings weren't really used.
Everyone was home.
Closed and closeted.
No one had spent really on homes.
It had never been something you were "seen in" outside, you see.
Then the Dust descended.
Unaware of brands.
It settled where it found home. Merc or Swift. Audi or WagonR.
The big bonnets of Audis and Merc won the race.
More space to settle you see.
The engines were engines and spoiled they got.
Audi batteries cost more than Wagon Rs.
The clothes mostly were hanging, in cupboards falling apart
Who cared today? Brand or Boutique.
All that mattered was the next cheque.
Where was it coming from?
Brands. Logos. All seemed a waste.
All that mattered was survival.
The race was now the same.
