One day she was all cute and small.
So fragile that she could hurt.
I held her fingers sheltered from the world.
In a jiffy, it seemed, she was holding mine tight. Not letting go, as I had once. But here we were.
Standing in front of a building named school.
Uncertain yet sure. How had time flown? Where did it go?
Look she is still a toddler, why are we in a hurry to grow?
I was uncertain of sending her to an alien world. She was uncertain of the new world.
What lay behind those glass doors, we both wondered.
Will it be good, am sure she thought. Had I made the right decision, was my fear.
Yet she had to go… those tiny fingers I would have to let go.
Why, for their good, do we let them go. Afraid of the world. Yet sure of it too!
Like my parents did, I would too. Let those tiny fingers slip out and wait for them to come back home to me.
It was the start of a new phase. For her. For me. For us.
I take a deep breath and hold her tight. Once more.
We stand outside the glass door. Waiting for it to open. . .
A whole new world. What will it hold? How will it unfurl?
